When you think of your best friend, or someone that you know of at work, there is something about them that makes you immediately think of them when something is mentioned or said. My aunt has a perfume that she wears that the minute I smell that, I know she has ben there. Whether it be the way that that person looks, be it hair, type of clothes they always wear, or the sent they have chosen. For an Athlete named Taylor, born out of McKinney, Tx and now resides in Trussville, AL as a wife and Coach and Director of Operations of a fitness program called ReBoot at CrossFit Trussville, Taylor has her signature purple hair or highlights.
Growing up as a competitive cheerleader from the ages of 5-18, Taylor had an active background. However, taking a break from sports during her college years, she was introduced to working out by her husband, and her introduced her to CrossFit (go mom!). As someone with an addictive personality, Taylor took to the sport of fitness. As it seems to be the case with most people, she fell in love with CrossFit and its methodology from day one. Crediting CrossFit and just the idea of working out for saving her from a life going down a rode she didn’t want to. She developed a love and proficiency for body weight movements while going deeper and deeper into the functional fitness world, she was drafted by a team in the National Pro Grid League (NPGL). Unfortunately, during the 2017 open, her UCL was torn. Wanting to increase her strength overall after the injury, especially with the hopes of continuing to be a competitive athlete, Taylor linked up with Allsouth Barbell and the head Coach and founder Andy Coggins. As a remote athlete, driving into Atlanta from time to time, Taylor has transitioned herself from the life as a CrossFit athlete to an Olympic weightlifter.
Day in and day out Taylor rolls out of bed and works hard, dedicated to becoming the best version of herself. Each morning, with the help of her alarm and a cup of coffee, maybe two, makes her way to CrossFit Trussville to meet her athletes who she considers family, for ReBoot where she coaches them to be the best versions of their own selves.
“Motivation is Crap,” as David Goggins, Taylor shows up, works hard. She remains dedicated to herself, her goals and being the best version of herself that she can be. With her goal being the big stage and becoming the best weightlifter that she can be I can tell you that she has no intention of stopping. While it may be via social media, Its hard for me to tell you that I have seen an athlete more dedicated than Taylor when it comes to being not only the best athlete she can be, but the best person she can be as well. She trains, on a good day or a bad day knowing that they both teach you a lesson mentally and physically. When she’s not training, she’s still bettering herself. Recovering; stretching, stimulating her mind and soul with scripture from the Bible, and just preparing for what comes next whether it being that day or the next.
When she’s not training, shes coaching the people she loves at Reboot, or her youth weightlifters she coaches. When she wants to have fun she does things like laser tag (that’s a bunch of cool points in my book), or going on hikes with her husband and her 3 dogs.
From the little bit of time I have known Taylor, only having met her once in person, soon to be two when I see her at Allsouths 2020 Iron Born Open. I can tell you this girl will reach the stars, that big stage, and will climb higher. Her dedication and her work ethic will make her someone to watch in the sport of weightlifting, and just life in general.
